Before hanging your wallcovering, it is very important to properly prepare the walls, since this will make your job easier and help ensure pleasing results.

Unpainted/New Walls:
  1. Remove any switch and outlet plates.
  2. Make sure drywall (plasterboard) is thoroughly dry.
  3. Fill in any nail holes or cracks with spackling compound.
  4. Lightly sand walls to eliminate any imperfections.
  5. Remove dust by wiping walls with a clean, damp sponge.
  6. Prime walls with a primer-sealer combination to help the wallcovering adhere and prevent show-through.
Painted Walls:
  1. Remove any switch and outlet plates.
  2. Wash walls with a mild detergent.

Note: Glossy or semi-glossy surfaces are too slick for wallcovering to properly adhere.
Previously Papered Walls
  1. Remove any switch and outlet plates.
  2. Remove existing wallpaper.
  3. Wash walls with mild detergent to eliminate residual adhesives.
  4. If walls were not previously primed-sealed, we suggest that you prime and seal the walls to help the wallcovering adhere and prevent show-through.

NOTE:
We recommend priming & sealing the wall 1/4” less than the actual size of the mural. This should eliminate the need to touch-up painted areas.
